Kind and Brave is an initiative of the Sanderson Alliance that is linking up community, schools and organisations so that all our kids learn and thrive.
The Alliance of seven schools, Karama, Sanderson Middle, Anula, Manunda Terrace, Wulagi, Malak Primary and Malak Re-engagement Centre with NGO’s Save the Children, Red Cross, Good Start Early Learning, The Smith Family and Corrugated Iron have begun to look at the complexities of educating the children in our community.
One of the data sets that impacted us was police data of the high level of family and domestic violence in our community. We want all our children to learn that they have a right to be safe and cared for and to know how to seek help when they need it.
This will help break the inter-generational cycle of family violence.
We have started a 100 Day Challenge to address family and domestic violence which we call Kind and Brave — Everyone has a right to feel safe and cared for. During Semester 2 2016 we will be highlighting the importance of positive relationships in children's lives and the urgent need to stop family violence.
The inaugural Sanderson Art Show is our first collective event and is focused on exploring and celebrating positive relationships.
The Sanderson Alliance supports the No More campaign with this Kind and Brave initiative because everyone has a right to feel safe and cared for.
